We had many beach days while in Playa del Carmen. Pure white sandy beaches as far as your eyes can see… Playa del Carmen may be very crowded and touristy, but somehow the beaches are still beautiful and pristine. We spent our time just relaxing, swimming in the warm ocean and drinking coconuts all day long. Heaven!

Mamitas beach is one of the more crowded beaches, with lots of beach bars and restaurants to choose from. You can also rent beach chairs and umbrellas here. Mamitas Beach club definitely the best rental deals (30 pesos per chair and umbrella). The music is played loud and gets you in a party mood! If you walk further north from Mamitas you’re very likely to find your own quiet spot if that’s what you want.

South from Mamitas, about a 15-20 min walk along the beach, you’ll end up in Playacar. Playacar beach is amazing and relaxing. Playacar has many exclusive resorts and villas. You probably won’t be able to rent a beach chair or an umbrella here because they are reserved for hotel guests. Also make sure to bring your own water and snacks as the restaurants along the beach are not open to the public. You can also walk to the many cafes and restaurants up the street.
